The founding father and patriarch of our venerable law firm. During his career, Gene won several of the highest personal injury jury verdicts in Northeast Ohio, including a $5 million jury verdict in 1985 in Akron, Ohio. His achievements have been featured in the National Law Journal, Newsweek, and Woman's World. He has lectured at seminars for the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers, the Ohio Attorney General's Staff, Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association, University of Akron School of Law, American Association of Medical Assistants, Cleveland Academy of Trial Lawyers, Kansas Trial Lawyers Association, the American Medical Association, and many others.
After army service in North Africa, Europe, and Japan during World War II, Gene attended Kent State University and the University of Cincinnati Law School until recalled to duty in the Korean Conflict. He is a graduate of the William McKinley School of Law and is certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.

Since joining The Okey Law Firm in 1987, Steve has obtained more than $43 million in verdicts, judgments, and settlements on behalf of his clients, while devoting himself to representing and advocating for injured people, their families, professionals, and business owners against insurance companies and their armies of lawyers. Cases involving death and catastrophic injury are a significant focus of his practice. He has successfully handled hundreds of cases involving wrongful death, medical malpractice, automobile and motorcycle collisions, industrial accidents, pharmaceutical liability, defective products, insurance bad faith, HMO liability, and premises liability.
Steve has appeared on behalf of clients from across the country in state and federal trial and appellate courts, and has successfully argued numerous cases in the Supreme Court of Ohio. He has lectured at the University of Akron School of Law, Mount Union College, the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers, the Stark County Academy of Trial Lawyers, Stark State College of Technology, the People's Law School, the Community Healthcare Coalition, and the Ohio State Society of Medical Assistants.
Steve has been featured in regional and national television and news media for his work on the groundbreaking lawsuit against the manufacturer of the drug Ritalin, and has twice been profiled in Ohio Lawyers Weekly.
Steve received his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Kent State University and is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Akron School of Law.
